About the workshop
Many photographers have successfully worked with daylight food photography, the last decade, daylight photography has been increasingly popular.
Once you are familiar with the camera's basic technique and exposure control, daylight is relatively easy to work with. But maybe you want to add a little extra to your work... add some sunshine, increase the contrast, or add some color... When you have worked with daylight photography, you probably have noticed that the shade is the best place to shoot. Direct sunlight is too harsh and it is hard to capture the feeling of the scene. The solution is a single flashlight!
Doing this workshop we will explore the combination of flash and daylight: I will demonstrate different light set-ups, using small speedlight flashes, and professional Broncolor lamps. I will talk about the technical aspect, but focus on the practical use. The balance between the natural light and the artificial light is very important! We will explore this with different settings and different set-ups. We will see what happens when you add colored filters to the flash.
After the workshop, you should be able the make the sun shine, even when the rain is pouring down, at least in your pictures.
The workshop will start with an introduction to the technical aspects of flash photography. We will talk about different flash lights, color variations, filters and exposure. After this technical introduction, you will have the chance to try out the theories in real life: a chef will provide us with a variation of different dishes that you will be able to shoot.
This workshop requires knowing how to use a DSLR camera, knowing about its exposure settings, and about aperture and shutter time. Some daylight photography experience is also desirable.
About Søren
Søren Gammelmark, 36 years old, started working as a freelance photographer in 1998. He graduated from Media College Denmark in 2006, and is self-employed since 2007. Søren loves photography and the different photographic techniques. He is confident working with daylight as well as flashlight and the combination of both. To Søren the detail is very important, he strives to make as much of the picture in the camera as possible. "You can do many things in Photoshop, but if the light is not good, then you will really have a hard time fixing it..."
The style of Søren's work is inspired by the Scandinavian light and design tradition: simple, clean, natural and crisp.
