Danish Food Still Life - A piece of Denmark- Carmen Troesser

Educational objective:  The objective of this workshop will be to learn specific techniques regarding both food photography and food styling, with an emphasis on incorporating foods from the Danish culture.
Required level: photography knowledge
Equipment: Participants are encouraged to bring their own cameras and equipment.  Photos will be taken during the workshop and participants are also encouraged to bring a laptop and any editing software they are comfortable using.

About the workshop

During this workshop participants will have a hands on opportunity to photograph food while learning how to incorporate traditional, local, and organic foods from the Danish culture.  Participants will have fun making simple, beautiful "messes" with locally sourced artisan breads, cheeses, jams, fish, and other local foods.  Participants will also explore how to utilize props such as stoneware and bake-ware, that is common in the Danish cultural as a way of enhancing the local cultural feel of the photography, with an emphasis on styling and light.  Also, the Koldt bord, or cold buffet,will also be explored.  You will come away with simply lit, thoughtful, and stunning imagery and have an opportunity to place a piece of Denmark in your portfolio.

About Carmen

Carmen Troesser is a food and lifestyle photographer based in the Midwest. Growing up on her family's farm in rural Missouri, the farm to table concept was a way of life. Her food photography combines her appreciation of the origin of food, love of the culinary arts, and her desire to make beautiful images. She has a degree in illustration and painting and a Master’s Degree in photojournalism from the University of Missouri and has lived in Utah, New York and France. She travels for assignments from her home base in Missouri. She is represented by Kathy Bruml and Jean Conlon of Bruml Conlon Artists Agents in New York.
